We are passing away from this beautiful earth,
Our much loved abode and the land of our birth;
From forests and fields and from murmuring rills,
From beautiful plains and herbage crown’d hills.

We are passing away from our kindred and friends,
The last chain that binds us, the spoiler will rend,
Well then sweetly rest in the calmest repose,
Unplagu’d by life’s cares, and unpierc’d by its woes.
